Care When You Need It Now
If you are in Terra Linda with a tooth that suddenly went wrong, you are close to help: our office at 1099 D Street is just down Las Gallinas Avenue, and we hold same-day slots open Monday through Thursday for urgent care. Pick up the phone, point the car toward downtown San Rafael, and we will work to get you seen and out of pain.
A dental emergency does not pick a convenient hour. A throbbing tooth, a crown that lifted off at dinner, a piece that chipped during a kid's game at the park, all of it deserves attention quickly, both to ease the pain and to protect the tooth. The single most useful thing you can do is call (415) 453-0744 as early in the morning as you can. The earlier we hear from you, the better the odds we can fit you in that day and make a real plan to fix the problem.
Emergencies We See Often
- Severe or lingering toothaches that keep you up at night
- Teeth that are broken, cracked, or knocked out
- Crowns and fillings that came loose or fell out
- Swelling, an abscess, or gum pain that is getting worse
- An injury or blow to the mouth, including after sports
What Happens When You Come In
- Call us Phone (415) 453-0744 first thing. We listen, sort out how urgent it is, and hold a same-day slot for you.
- A close look, fast When you arrive, we examine the area, usually with a digital X-ray, so we can find the real cause instead of guessing.
- Relief and stabilizing the tooth We ease the pain and steady the tooth right away so you are comfortable before anything else.
- A plan you understand We walk you through your options and give you an itemized estimate, then schedule any follow-up care that the tooth needs.
Why D Street Dental Group
Dr. Steve Truman
Dr. Steve earned his DDS from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and served as a clinical instructor. He treats the mouth as part of whole-body health, so an emergency visit is handled calmly and thoroughly: relieve the pain first, find what is really going on, then repair the tooth in a way that holds up over time. And because Terra Linda families see the same dentist each visit, you are a familiar face, not a chart number.
Serving Terra Linda
Of all the neighborhoods we care for, Terra Linda is the closest to our chair. From home, follow Las Gallinas Avenue down toward central San Rafael and continue to 1099 D Street, where we are on the second floor in Suite 206. There is no freeway to cross between you and the office, which matters a lot on a morning when a tooth is throbbing and you just want to be seen.
If you live near the Terra Linda Shopping Center, Freitas Parkway, Northgate, or Terra Linda High School, you are only a few minutes away, close enough to call on your way out the door. For parking, there is street parking along D Street and the surrounding blocks, plus several public lots a short walk away in downtown San Rafael.
Cost & Membership
Many emergency visits begin with an exam and X-ray to pin down the problem, followed by treatment to relieve pain and stabilize the tooth. We give you an itemized estimate before treatment, so you know what to expect. No surprises.
We are out of network for all dental insurance, but we still bill your PPO directly so you can use your benefits, which often covers a good portion of covered services. If you do not carry insurance, our in-house "D is for Dental" membership includes 20% off restorative & major work, with flexible payment plans. See membership plans →

What counts as a dental emergency?
A severe toothache, a broken or knocked-out tooth, a lost crown or filling, swelling, or bleeding that will not stop are all dental emergencies. If you have significant pain or facial swelling, call (415) 453-0744 right away and we will help you decide what to do next.
What should I do if my tooth gets knocked out near Terra Linda?
Pick the tooth up by the crown, not the root, gently rinse it without scrubbing, and if you can, place it back in the socket or keep it in milk. Then call us at (415) 453-0744 and head our way down Las Gallinas Avenue. Getting seen quickly gives the best chance of saving the tooth.
How much does emergency dental care cost?
It depends on what is needed. Many visits begin with an exam and X-ray to find the cause, followed by treatment to relieve pain and stabilize the tooth. We give you an itemized estimate before treatment. Our in-house D is for Dental membership includes 20% off restorative & major work, and as an out-of-network office we still bill your PPO directly, which often covers a good portion of covered services.
