Replace Missing TeethComfortably
Yes, we make dentures at D Street Dental Group in San Rafael. Each one is built to your bite, and Dr. Steve Truman, DDS, refines the fit over follow-up visits. Dentures are a long-proven, non-surgical way to replace missing teeth, and today's materials look far more natural than the dentures many people remember.
At D Street Dental Group, dentures are made to your mouth, not pulled off a shelf. Dr. Steve builds each one to your bite, refines the fit over follow-up visits, and makes sure the final result looks like you, not like dental work.

Denture Questions
How much do dentures cost in San Rafael?
Cost depends on whether you need a full or partial denture, the materials chosen, and any extractions or preparatory work. Dr. Steve Truman, DDS, at D Street Dental Group provides a clear, itemized estimate before treatment, and members of our in-house "D is for Dental" plan receive 20% off restorative & major work. Call (415) 453-0744 for a consultation.
What's the difference between full and partial dentures?
A full denture replaces all the teeth in an arch when no natural teeth remain. A partial denture fills in one or more gaps while clasping to your remaining healthy teeth. Dr. Steve will recommend the right option based on how many teeth you're missing and the health of those that remain.
Can dentures be supported by implants?
Yes. Implant-retained dentures snap onto a few strategically placed dental implants for a much more stable, secure fit that won't slip when you eat or speak. It's an excellent upgrade if you're tired of adhesive or a loose lower denture. Ask Dr. Steve Truman, DDS, about implant-supported options at your consultation at D Street Dental Group.
How long does it take to get dentures?
After impressions, dentures are custom-fabricated and typically ready within a few weeks, followed by fitting and adjustment visits to refine comfort. If extractions are needed first, healing time is factored into your plan. Dr. Steve maps out the full timeline at your first visit.
Will I be able to eat and speak normally?
Modern, well-fitted dentures restore most chewing and speaking function. There's a short adjustment period as your mouth adapts, and Dr. Steve Truman, DDS, refines the fit over follow-up visits at D Street Dental Group. Most patients are comfortable with everyday eating and talking within a few weeks.
How do I clean my dentures?
Rinse them after every meal, brush them once a day with a soft denture brush and a non-abrasive denture cleaner, not regular toothpaste, and soak them overnight in water or a denture solution. Never use hot water, which can warp the fit. Brush your gums, tongue, and any remaining teeth every day too, because the tissue under a denture needs care as much as the denture does. Dr. Steve Truman, DDS, at D Street Dental Group checks both at your visits.
Should I sleep with my dentures in?
No. Take them out at night so your gums can rest and the tissue underneath gets a break from pressure. Wearing dentures around the clock raises the chance of sore spots, fungal infections, and faster bone loss under the denture. Soak them overnight and put them back in the morning after brushing your gums. If you have a reason you cannot go without them at night, tell Dr. Steve Truman, DDS, at D Street Dental Group and we will work out a plan.
Does dental insurance cover dentures?
Usually in part. Many PPO plans pay a percentage of a denture as a major service, up to the plan's annual maximum, and most limit how often they will pay for a replacement. D Street Dental Group is out of network with all dental PPOs, and we bill your plan directly so you still use whatever benefit it offers. Dr. Steve Truman, DDS, gives you a written estimate before treatment. Members of the D is for Dental plan receive 20% off restorative & major work.
How often do dentures need to be relined or replaced?
Your gums and jawbone keep changing shape after teeth are lost, so a denture that fit well at first gradually loosens. A reline, which reshapes the inside surface to match your gums, is usually needed every few years, and a full replacement when the teeth wear down or the base can no longer be adjusted. Looseness, new sore spots, clicking, or food trapping under the denture are the signs. Dr. Steve Truman, DDS, checks the fit at every visit at D Street Dental Group.
