What to Expect at Your First Visit

The first appointment is the one most people worry about, so we keep it calm and unhurried. You won't be rushed into the chair or handed a treatment plan you don't understand. We get to know you, look closely at what is going on, and then talk it through together before anything is scheduled.

  1. A warm welcome and your health historyWe sit down with you, go over your medical and dental history, and listen to whatever has been on your mind, from a sore tooth to a smile you would like to change.
  2. A gentle digital exam and X-raysWe take any digital X-rays that are needed and complete a full exam, so we have a clear picture of your teeth, gums, and bite.
  3. A cleaning when appropriateIf your visit is a good fit for it, we clean your teeth the same day so you leave feeling fresh.
  4. Dr. Steve explains what he seesHe walks you through everything in plain language, points it out on your own images, and answers your questions, with no jargon and no pressure.
  5. A clear plan and an itemized estimateIf you need treatment, you get a written, itemized estimate and a plan you can take home and think about. The next step is always your call.

Care for the Whole Family

D Street Dental Group is built for families. We see children, teens, parents, and grandparents, and we are happy to book family members back to back so you make one trip instead of three. For anyone who feels anxious in the chair, young or grown, we have a calm comfort menu, including nitrous, to take the edge off.

Insurance, Made Simple

We are out-of-network with all PPOs, and that is easier than it sounds. We still bill your plan directly for you, and most PPOs reimburse a meaningful share of out-of-network care, often a good portion of covered services.

No insurance? Our in-house D is for Dental membership takes 20% off restorative & major work, with no deductibles and no annual maximums to track.

No surprises. You get an itemized estimate before any treatment, so you always know what to expect. See insurance & payment →

Meet Dr. Steve

Dr. Steve Truman is a Dugoni-trained dentist with a focus on restorative care, the kind of careful, lasting work that keeps your family's smiles healthy for years. He treats you like a person, not a chart, and takes the time to explain your options so you can decide with confidence. Come in a few times and he will know your family by name. Meet Dr. Steve →

New Patient Questions

What happens at my first visit to D Street Dental Group?

Your first visit is a relaxed, thorough start: we review your health history, take any needed digital X-rays, do a complete exam and cleaning when appropriate, and Dr. Steve walks you through what he sees and any options, in plain language, before anything is scheduled.

Yes. D Street Dental Group is a family practice. We care for children, teens, parents, and grandparents, and we are happy to book family members back to back to save you trips.

How does insurance work if you are out-of-network?
